Glass Plus

Glass Plus is an innovative project promoted by ReMedia for making the most of glass obtained through  the treatment of cathode-ray tube (CRT) TVs.   Since 2010 it has been included in the European "Eco-Innovation" program, promoted and financed by the EACI (the Executive Agency for Competitiveness and Innovation)

The project is all about developing a revolutionary recycling strategy.  The glass present in cathode-ray tubes is put back into the process cycle for producing a wholly innovative ceramic mix.  This contributes to obtaining the credits to secure the highly regarded environmental sustainability certificate for buildings (LEED, Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design).

The main aims of Glass Plus are:  to maximise the recycling rate for cathode-tube TVs, and in so doing it guarantees the recovery and recycling targets set in European rules and as a result reduces CO2 emissions and energy consumption; the development of a new market for ceramic tiles produced with post-consumer material (CRT glass sourced through the treatment of old TVs and monitors) that meet the requirements of LEED standards and the creation of cooperation that is unique involving two European industrial sectors - ceramics and electronics.
