To comply with the regulations, producers:
- join a WEEE-management collective system (compulsory for household WEEE and optional for non-household WEEE) and guarantee correct WEEE treatment;
- register with the National EEE Registry;
- periodically submit sales data to the Registry;
- show the "crossed bin" symbol on their EEE;
- provide users with information on the collection and disposal of the product, as indicated in Article 13 of Legislative Decree 151/05, namely:
a) the duty to dispose of WEEE not as urban waste but through pre-sorted waste collection;
b) the WEEE collection systems, and the option of returning equipment to the distributor when new equipment is purchased;
c) the potential effects on the environment and health of the presence of hazardous substances in EEE or of the improper use of such equipment or its parts;
d) the meaning of the "crossed bin" symbol;
e) the penalties provided in the event of illegal disposal of such waste.
