Aims

The WEEE decree (Legislative Decree 151 of 2005) has the following primary aims:

·          prevent the production of waste from electrical and electronic equipment

·          promote the reuse, recycling, and the recovery of WEEE

·          to improve, from an environmental standpoint, the action of entities involved in the life cycle of said products

·          reduce the use of hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment.

Legislative Decree 151/05 sets a target level for the segregated collection of WEEE from households, namely a minimum of 4 kg on average per person per year.

Producers of electrical and electronic equipment must also guarantee to achieve set percentages in the recovery of materials obtainable from WEEE.
