ITALIANCoordination Centre
The WEEE Co-ordination Centre (www.cdcraee.it) is an organisation set up under Legislative Decree 151/05 for “optimising the activity carried out by collective systems to ensure common, homogeneous, and uniform operating systems”.
The Co-ordination Centre, set up on 16th March 2007, has the task of co-ordinating collective systems in order to:
- guarantee, throughout Italy, the presence of a uniform service of WEEE collection and treatment;
- to assign collection sites in a fair manner to the collective systems so that they can treat their WEEE quotas in similar operating conditions;
- be the sole co-ordinating body for Collection Sites that have an internet portal for registration and a call center for the reception of service requests

National Register for EEE Producers under obligations
The National Register of entities with a duty to treat WEEE was set up by the Environment Ministry and is kept by the Supervisory and Control Committee using a computer network connection with local Chambers of Commerce, which serve as data-input points.
It is mandatory on Producers of EEE to be entered in the register and this can be done:
· at the Chamber of Commerce for the locality where their registered offices are;
· using the digital signature of the legal representative of the firm or his/her representative
Once entered in the register, the producer receives a register entry number within 30 days. This number must be shown on all its sales documents within 30 days of it being issued.
Firms that have a duty to manage household WEEE must be entered in the National Register of Producers and, among other things, they must state the name of the Collective System they have joined. Registration with a Collective System for handing household WEEE is, accordingly, obligatory and failing registration producers cannot market their products in Italy.
Watch and Control Committee
The Watch and Control Committee is a policy body providing overall government of the WEEE System. In particular, the Committee carries out the following tasks:
- keeping of the National Register;
- calculating the market quotas of Producers/Collective Systems;
- supervision and monitoring of anomalies in the application of the legislation
- processing of data on recovery targets.
The Chairman of the Supervisory and Control Committee is Mrs. Rosanna Laraia.
Policy Committee
Duty of this Committee is to offer a support to W&C Committee, monitoring operations, logistics and economics of Weee System and forwarding its considerations, giving its proposals to improve activities.
